Let's talk more about conflict! #3

Now that we have finished reading the first five chapters of Christmas Jars, we are well into the story, and hopefully enjoying it! All the elements of a plot are equally important in weaving a good story, but the conflict(s) in a story certainly play a big part in adding to our enjoyment.

Think about some of the conflicts that have been presented so far in Christmas Jars. You will need to:
1) Select a conflict and
2) Identify and explain what type of conflict it is.

It has been so much fun getting to be a part of reading Christmas Jars with you! It's one of my all-time favorite books. See you soon!

The conflict was when hope found the Christmas jar. It was person vs. person because she did not know who sent the Christmas jar to her!

Hey Mrs. Halterman. I’m picking when she got robbed. She was at chucks and when she got home she saw that someone broke in to her house. They took her money that her and her mom saved and they trashed her house. Someone also left a jar of money. The conflict is person vs. person

The part that shows conflict is when her mother dies it’s very sad because that’s the way my mom died on the couch. But anyway the conflict of that is person vs. person. Because she had to choose to sit on the couch and greave or move on with her life and she chose to move on with her life! ☺

HI Mrs. Halter man I think the conflict is person vs. person because the person set a jar with money in it. Hope went to her neighbors and ask if they left the jar on her doorstep. Hope spent her Christmas at chucks alone. The conflict is Hope and Christmas jar people.

Hi Mrs. Halterman

In Christmas jars one of the conflict’s is person vs person because when the robber’s robbed house and she got all sad because the guy/girl’s stole the $500 and her watch that her real mom gave her. The other one is person vs herself because when Hope’s mom died she didn’t know what she felt nothing at all and didn’t really know if she should cry or not. Person vs society Louise when she was a single women with no child when she saw the baby and took it people would have thought that she had stolen it and would get in trouble with the judge.

Mrs. H,
I am choosing the conflict in chapter 3. This is when Louise dies. Louise dies from cancer. This I think would be Person vs. herself. Because after Louise died so Hope was trying to figure out if she was going to sit on the couch and grieve or go back to writing in the news paper.

I think that it is person v. person because they brake into her house and rob her. The conflict is between hope and the person who robbed her house. Then the person who robbed her left a jar to get her threw the holidays. Then she goes and talks to her neighbors. Then she talks to people and they tell her it is no big deal, but she thinks it is. She wants to find out who it is. The conflict is between Hope and the suspect who left the money. This conflict is person vs. peron.

I think there is a conflict between Hope and the perp. The perp stole the TV and 500 dollars. She called the cops and they gathered evidence. This perfect example of person vs. person.

The conflict of this story is that luise died from cancer this is person vs. herself because she tries to fight the cancer and is getting more ill. Also someone robbs Hope’s house. Then the police come to see and find out who robbed her house and then she tripped over a brown sack and findes a big jar of money findes a note. The conlfict is between Hope and the robbers, which is person vs. person.

Dear Ms. Halterman
One of the conflicts I chose was person VS person. The reason I chose that one was because she has problems with her co-workers and she as a problem with the person that robed her. But she also got something good out of the robbery a 12inch TV!☺

I think the story Christmas Jars is a person v.s. person. I think that some of the other people who got the jar are saving there extra money and give it to some one who is more needy. The conflict is between hope and the person who gave her all the money. GET WELL SOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The conflict of the Christmas Jars I thought was person vs. person. The conflict in the story is that the people Hope worked with is turning her stories down and she is not wanting to write as much as she used to.

I think the book Christmas Jars is person vs. person. Hope has just called 911 to have three police come to her apartment. She goes outside and was talking to her mother up in the sky. When she goes back inside she stumbles over this bag a picks it up and almost dropping it on her toes. Notice a jar of coins and money. She didn't know who it was from so that why I picked person vs person.

Love you Mrs.Halterman , miss you

Hi Mrs. Halterman The conflict was person vs. person when someone broke into the house. Someone broke in and took a lot of money and a watch. That was person vs. person because it was between the person who broke in and the person who owned the stuff.

I think that right now the conflict of what is going on is person vs.person because hope got home and her house was robbed. Later the cop’s came and checked every thing. She finds a jar of money that it says “CHRISTMAS JARS”. So now she is thinking to keep the money or spend the money. This is person vs. herself

I think the conflict is when Hope got robbed and asked the people who rote about there problems and what they got a Christmas Jar and she got on her self and it became a mystery. I think the conflict is person vs. society because it’s a mystery.

I hope to see you Friday have a good day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When are you coming back any way??????

Hope first seen the jar then and estimated on how much money was in the jar and she got twenty-dollar bills but then she counted it all and came out with $154.76 in change and $80 dollars so the conflict is Hope can not find out who gave the jar of money to her. The conflict is person vs. person

The conflict that I think was a main part of the story is when her mom died. Which would be person vs. herself because she couldn’t decide if she wanted to go back to work or not,her boss said she had 2weeks off . Then she made up her mind and then stayed home for 3days!

brittany said...

The conflict of the story that I choose was the part were the mom dies and its person vs herself. She decided rather she should stay home or go to work. And hopes boss said that she can take three weeks of f. But instead she only took off three days.

There is one conflict in the story that I wanted to point out. Is when her mom past away that would be person vs. herself. Cause she cant decide what to do if she goes wants to go back to work if she wants to stay home. Because her boss gave her two weeks off and she only took three days off. Well its been nice skyping with you. I really miss you. Cant wait to see you!

I picked Person vs. Herself because Hope’s mother passed away and she was sad. After that she went to go eat at Chuck’s n’ biscuits for a while.

Lori said...

The conflict of the part I picked was when her mother dies. I thought it was very sad. Tear jerking but hope was ok with it when her mother died. She said it was a peaceful way to die there where mother laying her head on her lap. Person vs person.

Dear Mrs,Halterman
The thing I pick is where Hope was robbed. That would be person vs. person.it would be Hope vs, the robber because she dosen’t know who the robber is so she has to find who it is. It coulde be her mother.
