About Me

- Hi, I'm Mrs.Halterman and here's a little something about myself. I love teaching and have been a seventh grade reading and English teacher at J. Frank Hillyard Middle School for 20 years. I am married and have three children, five very precious grandchildren, and an extremely spoiled kitty named Boo. In my spare time I enjoy reading, playing the piano, walking outdoors, and spending time with my family. My newest hobby is Zumba! By the way, growing up I always wanted to be a detective and Nancy Drew was my idol, so now I host the Private Eyes club here at school during Hawks Hangout!

I really think that FEVER is a good book. Cause it makes me feel like I’m actually in the book. And i dont’ dislike it at all.
The book is good. I really like it. My opinion changed, I did not think the mom would have yellow fever. I love the parrot and I don't like the grandfather because he is so bossy, and I like the parrot because he is annoying. I think Mattie should do a search for her mom and Eliza.
I like this book because it’s during the 1700’s and I like reading older books because I like learning about history. I like it at the end because it getting closer to the end because I really want to see how it ends!!!!!
My thoughts on Fever1793 are that the book is not all bad but it’s not great. It’s a pretty good book. My opinion on the book has changed a little bit. It has changed because an awesome parrot comes into the story. I like the foul-mouthed parrot. I dislike yellow fever.
i really like fever i think is a good book...u dont no what is going to happen next.I think that im going to read books like this for now on.
FEVER 1793 is an ok book but I think that there are too many big words for my small brain. Thank god Miss Wilkins gave us a glossary. I think that my opinion has changed after reading chapters 5 and 6 but I’m really getting into the book. Many times I can picture a snapshot. Sometimes I think I’m not into the book but that’s because it is only describing the backgrounds. I really like that they are putting different characters in because I like learning about new people.
I like the book a little I like more action books. It has gotten better as it goes on but it’s a little boring. Some of the parts I like that they are living above the coffeehouse. I also dislike parts because there are no action parts. It’s gotten better as it goes on. I hope it gets even better.
I like reading Fever 1793 it is awesome! The part I like about the book is that I would like to live back in the old days and see what it is like to live back in the old days and wear the clothes and other stuff they do. What I dislike about the book is that you get diseases that can kill you but not now. But I do like the book.
I'm not getting into the book because I don't really like history books. Exseped books about Abe Lincoln.
It is good so far. Yes. I thought it was just another book that we had to read.
I like the time the book take place. I don’t like the book it is too long.
I like it alot because I like history it is my favorite subject and so i like this book because it has history in it. Yes I have changed my opinion because at the begining it was boring and just like o there was a mosqito buzzing in my ear and now is full of excitment.I like basicly the whole book.
I think fever is good so far. Yes, it was boring at the beginning now it’s a lot better. That everyone is trying to help get the fever away from the natshion. I don’t like the fact that one guy wants her to go to the orphan place.
At the beginning of the book it was boring because it didn’t have the jump out that I thought it should because it started with her life. Then it started talking about how yellow fever happened and what was going on and what she wished would happen. I like it now because it is way more fun to read and I really am starting to not care about homework for it.
The book FEVER 1793 is a good book and yes my opinion did change at the being of this book i didn't like it... it's not a book that i would pick but as i started raeding the book and got farther in the chapters i began to like it but some of the things in this book that i disliked were that the fever killed a lot of people and it was like the world was coming to any end.
My thoughts of Fever so far have definitily changed from the beginning of the book to where we are now because at the beginning it didn’t give that much detail as as it does now so it definitily has changed in a good way and, hopefully it will just get better as I read farther!!!!
I disliked the first part but, it has changed into a pretty good book. I don’t like the yellow fever part because I don’t like to see people sick. I like that they live above a coffee shop.
At first I didn’t like the book but then my mind started to change after we got more in to the book. What I think made my dislike it was the beginning because there was not as much drama as there was in the chapters that we just recently read in fever. I like it a lot now that we have really gotten more in to the book.
Fever is an ok book. It is interesting how all of the cities are fighting it off at the same time. I could not live in this time period. I think that I would probably go crazy seeing all of the dead people. Even now that I would probably go crazy I would love to see G.W.
i don;t like when grandpa dies and when Mady finds this little girl and her mothr died i mean the little girls mother dies that was the sadest part of some of the book.
The book we are reading in clays is a good book. It is cool too, but I would not be happy about the baby. It is not my problem.
I think it is going to be a pretty interesting book so far. At the beginning of the book it was really boring, but now it is really interesting and when I’m reading it I don’t want to put it down.
I think that Fever is a good book so far. I like how it kind of tells about history and about yellow fever. I dislike it because the chapters are so long.
I really like FEVER 1793. Except that one part where that little baby girl is abandoned. That’s the saddest part of the whole book so far.
I like the book so far. It has some sad parts like Mattie’s grandpa dieing and she doesn’t know where her mom is. And some parts are suspenseful like when the robbers came in her house and tried to steal her grandpa’s chess set that he won. I thought it would be a good book when we started to read the first couple chapters. I think it is interesting to read about the yellow fever and what Mattie has to go through everyday.
I think that it's great of what we're reading in fever! I didn't like chapter 1 but when we started to read more of it I started to like it and now I don't think I dislike it now.
At first I did not like it but because it was boring.Then when they speak of yellow fever it got better. I do not dislike it at all.
Fever 1793 is a really great book. What I like about it is because it kind of puts you in suspense when you are reading it you sometimes have questions but once you get into the next chapter it sometimes answers the questions. What I don’t like about it is that the Author makes Poll die when all you know about her is that she was a serving girl you barley even knew her along with Colette she fainted but didn’t know how may be it was the heat.
Yes my thoughts have changed I’ m actually begining to like the book fever 1793 well because of everything that has happened you start to get that that your going to start to get that your going to like it and it’s getting really good so far from what I have read in the book .
It is starting out really good I usually don’t like historic books like this one but it is still good. I don’t like when the robbers beat up grandpa. I just thought it was sad because he died. I do like that she doesn’t have fever anymore.
I first didn’t like the beginning of the book but now I like the book Fever 1793. I didn’t like it at first because I thought it was going to be boring. I like it now because it is like mystery because you don’t now what will happen after something happens.
I used to hate the book because it was sad but I love it now. Because the book is interning. Fever is good because we are on chapter 24 now.
From chapter one to chapter sixteen my opinion has changed. At first I did not like the book but now it is geting more interesting. I like that she finds Eliza ,but I dislike that grand father dies.
When i first was reading it i thought it was boring but when we were reading more it got better! The only thing i don't like is that she has to away from her mother.
I think the book is not all that bad but it's not great. It changed a lot at first it was boring but it kind of got better. It got better because a parrot comes in the story.
