Today I want you to select a line or section from the story that you enjoyed, quote it, and tell me why you are impressed with that particular selection.

“Miyax’s eyelids fluttered; The black lashes parted, then framed her wide eyes like ferns around a pool.”

The reason I picked that sentence is because it’s very descriptive about her eyes, and it uses a simile!

“The caribou bucked writhed than dropped to his knees”. The reason I picked that is it gives a good image in your head.

"You are very fearless and very smart."
its my favorite sentence cause it saying kapu is going to be a leader some day.

"It's good," she said. "Try some Eskimo food." Kapu sniffed the meat, gulped, licked his jaws, and whined for more. I liked that passage because it was showing that Kapu and Miyax were becoming good friend, and i also thaught it was neat that she was feeding him the stew and he whined for moree.

“He got down on his belly before Amaroq, rolled trembling to his back, and wiggled.” I chose this because it tells you how he got his name Jello and it just shows that he is like a puppy to but is really an adult.

Georgie S. said...

“Flapping her hands on her head for ears, she flattened her fingers to make friends, pulled them together and back to express fear, and shot them forward to display her aggression and dominance. Then she folded her arms and studied the puppies again.”
I chose this part because it talks about how she learns some of the wolf talk and still is studying the puppies for more!!!

“ The caribou bucked, writhed, then dropped to his knees. His antlers pierced the ground; he bellowed and fell.”
I chosed this because it tells what happened to the caribou when the wolves attacked it.

Mrs. H.,
You’re absolutely right about our class enjoying the book. I love it!! The part I love is on page 22 and it says, “I’m speaking wolf!! I’m speaking wolf!! I choose this because it shows how much excitement Miyax is feeling when she figures out that she is speaking wolf.
This book is so exciting and I can’t wait to read the rest of part 2 and start part 3!!

“Amoaroq had vaulted into the air again and had sunk his teeth into the animal’s back . Snarling using his body as a tool, he rode the circling and stumbling beast.” The reason I choose that passage is because it shows a lot of affection and how the, wolves kill there pray.

I liked the part when she hears something big coming in her way. Let me show you what it says “As she worked on her hands and knees, she felt a rhythmical beat, like the rumble of Eskimo drums”. Later on when I read it is a huge caribou. i liked this part because it is like you are in the book feeling the beats.

The part I liked is on page 57 when "The Caribou bucked, writhed, then dropped to his knees" I picked it because it reminds me of hunting and shooting a deer.

“But you’re much too beautiful. I shall call you Silver instead.” I picked this part because Miyax was naming the wolfs and I Like the name silver.

Chanine said...

"His antlers pierced the ground;he was bellowed and fell. He was dying, his eyes glazed with the pain-killing drug of shock;yet his muscles still flexed .His hoofs flailed at the three who were ending the hunt with slashes and blood-letting bites."

I liked that passage because it tells how the wolves end the hunt.

Ok there’s a lot I liked in the story. I guess I can start out with was when Julie made a song that went like this, “Amaroq, wolf, my friend, You are my adopted father. My feet shall run because of you. My heart shall beat because of you. And I shall love because of you.” The reason why I picked that was because it was sweet and Julie loves them as her on family!

I picked, "He was dying, his eyes glazed with the pain- killing drug of shock." I picked that because thats the way i looked at my dads bear he had shoot.

The part I pick out of “Julie Of The Wolves” is “But You’re much to beautiful”. The reason why I picked this because miyax is talking about silver he is the wolf of the pack. And the picture in the book is beautiful. I’ve seen a wolf before so I think there pretty so that’s why I picked that.

“Julie And The Wolves” The section I picked was……. ‘’Tornait, Toraint , Spirit of the bird, Fly into my body And bring me The power of the sun.‘’ I picked that because , that’s when Kapugen’s sung the song of the Bird feast .

katelee said...

“ The wolf kill! She fairly shouted. They’re sharing the wolf kill.”

I chose that because Miyax knew that if she was hungry she would have to go ask the wolves for the food or wolf kill so she could eat.

“The caribou bucked, writhed, then dropped to his knees. His antlers pierced the ground; he bellowed and fell.” I picked this because when me and my grandpa went hunten he would shoot a deer. Well it depended on where he shot it. So it got the deer in the neck it went about 10 yards before it dropped.

The fog closed in briefly, and when it thinned the caribou was poised above Amaroq. The reason I picked that sentence is tells how Amaroq killed the caribou.

"bright sun, i missed you so," because back then there was no sun.
