A new year with the promise of new beginnings - that's always a good feeling! I hope that your time off for the holidays has renewed and refreshed you and now you're ready to get back to reading and writing and school in general. I know I'm excited to be back.
Speaking of feelings...I've been thinking lately about the many different ways that I feel while I read, depending on what I'm reading and who wrote it. Sometimes I feel...
surprised...uneasy...fearful...restless...worried...hopeful...annoyed...
peaceful...sympathetic...angry...happy...sad...upset...and so on.
Think about the book you're reading now and the different feelings you've had while reading. Today I want you to give me the title of the book you're presently reading and then tell me (1) how you were feeling and (2) what was happening in the story when you were having that particular feeling.

I’m currently reading Old Yeller by Fred Gipson and I was worried when a wild hog attacks Old Yeller because I thought it was gona kill him
I’m currently reading the black book of secrets and I was scared cause Ludlow Fitch’s Ma and Pa took him to get his mouth pulled by Barton Gumbroot he pull’s the teeth just to sell him but he never pulls people’s teeth easy he just pull’s really, really hard but the part that scared me most when Ludlow was saying that a shock went through every nerve end he was in so much pain he kicked is own Pa in the stomach that is pretty much what I was filling so far because this book looks like it is scary.
The name of the book I am currently reading is In Search Of Mockingbird by Loretta Ellsworth. I felt angry when Erin’s dad told Erin that he was getting married and Erin got mad but her brother’s were happy and they kept talking about her. I also felt full of questions when Erin left to go find the author of Mockingbird. I feel very different at very different times.
The book im reading is hank the cow dog. When i was reading it i was shocked that drover couldn’t find that horn that buryed. Then hank got after him for not finding it then i felt bad for drover.
The book I am reading is Judy Moody Goes Around The World In Eight ½ Days. In this book I do sometimes feel sad because Judy and her friends had lost their relationship!! But towards the end of the book they are friends again, sometimes in the book I feel happy.
The book that I just started today is The Boy Who Saved Baseball. When the book said that Tom went to doc’s house I was confused; because the book said that tom usually goes to doc’s house but the book said that he was going to doc’s for a different reason.
I’m currently reading the pinballs and was sad when he told us what happen to his leg. I all most started to cry.
Mrs. Halterman I feel like I am a alive in this book the book is called sounder it is about a boy that has a mom, dad,2 little sisters , and 1 little brother .There is another family member the dog named sounder he is a Georgia redbone hound and bulldog. The dogs ears, nose, and the color of a redbone. The great square jaws and head, his muscular neck and his broad chest showed his bulldog blood.
In the book the dad of the family steals a ham from the big house down the road he did some work for the people that own the house. The dad took it home to eat. Then one day these men came to the family’s house and took the dad away. To jail and the dog jump up at the man on a horse the man shoot the dog and tore off the skin of one side of the dog and its ear. The dog when into the woods for three mouths to heal the wounds the boy thinks the dog is dead. But he is not. He went in the woods to lay in oak leaves to get the poisons out of him. It is the best book I have ever read. Also the family cant read or write.
The book that I was reading is Captain Underpants and the big,bad battle of the Bionic Booger Boy Part 1:the Night of the Nasty Nostril Nuggets. I was happy while I was reading it because everyone was scared to fight the bionic booger boy but captain underpants was not and when he fought the booger boy he had to save one of the teachers that the booger boy was going to eat.
I am now reading Rebel Glory by Sigmund Brouwer and I was surprised when Teddy one of the people on their hockey team was trying to make them lose so they couldn’t get in the playoffs. He did some mean things to get their best player off the team but he finally got caught. Then the last game of the regular season they had to win to get in the playoffs and Teddy somehow got there and tried to mess them up but he didn’t.
The book I am reading is called Chief Honor by Sigmund Brouwer at the part Iam at surprised me because the main character said he was a goalie in the book he said he was a backup goalie he got replaced with a new team member.
The book I am reading is called London calling by Edward Bloor. I think is the part I am reading is sad because when Martin’s grandma died and in the will she gave Martin his favorite thing a radio that he never knew she had
I'm currently reading Twilight, it's an amazing book. And when I read the book I think I tend to have more uneasy feelings then Bella. When I read the book in some chapters my whole body tenses up with the conflict that's happening. I understand some of the things she feels with my own reactions, then again I couldn't even think of what's going to happen. But sometimes I feel all kind of different emotions.
I’m currently reading Love That Dog and I was sad when he said that his dog got hit by a car… It was so sad I had to put the book away… First Jack and his parents were driving by the pet store and he saw a yellow puppy and he said he could here it say choose me choose me!!! Then he was outside with his friends and one of them shouted out “Car” and the dog was in the road and Jack tried to get his attention and the car was speeding and ran rite over the dog his name was Sky.
I’m currently reading fire star and I was confused when Liz told david that she had a husband that his name was Arthur and that once she had lucy he left her . After that part when he left her I felt sad for her because she had to take care of lucy her self . then when I kept reading and when she was taking about grockle being born from a bronze egg I felt that it was pretty cool when they said that .
Hello Mrs.Halterman well I read what you were asking for right now I am reading A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS by LEMONY SNICKET. Well right now I fell kind of bad for the children named Violet Klaus and Sunny. I feel bad for them because their parents died from a fire. I also fell bad for them because they have to go to Prufrock Prep. They also met their new vice principal who was really mean. Violet and Klaus go to school but Sunny has to work for the vice president. He also said the if any one of them was late to class or work the have to be tied from their arms and eat that way. So Sunny was the first one because the vice principal said “Sunny is not allowed to come in my office”. He also. Later Violet asked where are they going to live he said “in a barn”. So that made me fell really bad for them.

Well the book I am reading at the time is called New Moon! When I start reading the book it makes me feel annoyed sometimes because Bella is stubborn you can never make her listen , but sometimes she will. Then other times the book makes me joyful and want to keep reading it because it’s like it amazing it pulls you more and more in the book. The part that makes me want more of it when she say the way his golden eyes shine and how his skin shimmers in the sunlight! The part that makes me annoyed the most is when she told Jessica she’d be back and told her I think I know these guys and Jessica told her that’s not very smart Bella , but Bella didn’t listen to Jessica and the only thing she keeps seeing is Edward!!!!! I am currently reading Shiloh and I was very mad when Marty went out in the woods and found a beagle and it had been beaten and skinny because Marty said that he could see the dogs ribs. I felt mad because the dog had been abused. Then I was confused because the dog belonged to Judd Travers and it's hunting dog and if it was me i would make sure that my hunting dog was at home and not in the mountains.
The name of my book is the report card. When I read it it makes me feel sad.Because the girl named Nora she gets all D's and 1 C on her report card thats why it makes me sad.

The book that i am reading is The Twits. so far its about a married couple that play tricks on each other. The book is very funny and makes me feel very happy because they are playing tricks on one another. There was this one story that Mrs,Twits drop her glass eyeball in Mr, Twits beer. so that was very funny.

Well I am reading deer hunting and the part were I am at they are talking about bows and what you do and how u shoot it and were to shoot the deer at to drop and I feel good because it tells every thing really good and it is a good book and I like it a lot.
The book I am reading is A week in the woods.I felt sad when Mark had to move and leave all friends behind and change schools. Mark felt sad to he did not want to leave his home or his school and he did want to make new friends.
My book I currently started to read is because of Winn Dixie. The way I feel about it is sadness because ten-year-old India Opal Buloni moves to a small town with her dad the preacher. Her mom packed up and left when she was little her mom said that she didn’t like being a preacher wife. And she finds a dog in the supermarket and brought it home and named it Winn Dixie. That was her best friend she asked her dad if she could keep it tell they find the home but her dad finally let her keep the dog live on to have a great relationship. That made me feel happy
Ok, first the book I’m reading now is called Coralline. And how I’m feeling about it is kind of uneasy. The story is about this girl Coraline and her parents move into this big house but it was so big that they divided it in half and two old people got the other half. And the house had given the girl the creeps. But that’s all I have gotten to in the story. I’m wondering what’s going to happen next in the story?
I’m currently reading Skeleton Man and I was angry when Skeleton Man ate those pore old people. I also think that it is sad because Molly has no family members to watch her. I was hoping that the story will get better as happier but it didn’t.
i feel happy because big ben is on one of the best nfl football teams. and he is good at what he does. he has been in 2 superbowls and won both.

The book I’m reading is called The Black Book of Secrets. The way I felt about this book last night was scary and freaky! The reason it was scare and freak was at the beginning a boy wakes up on a table. His mom and dad are there but they are with the bad man. The man is there to pull the boys teeth out, the boys mom and dad are doing this for money. Then they are going to take the money to buy alcohal! Then the boy kicked his dad in the gut and hits the bad man on the head with one of this tool’s. That’s the way I felt last night but now it’s not as good as the first part. But it’s getting better!

I am currently reading Justin and the best biscuits in the world the author is Mildred Pitts Walker. I am kinda bored with this book because it’s not really interesting at all to me. The book is about the black and white thing back in the old times and his uncle makes the best biscuits ever I guess that’s how it got the title.
The Book I’m reading is called The Babbs Switch story. I am not all the way done with it but I am working on it is about this girl and her sister and her friends kittens. Some how daisy kittens got in to Daphne house and seen a lump in her pillow. So she picked up her pillow and put it at her chest then layed it back down and went to bed so then the next morning Daphne go up and herd a noise and the that’s how she found out that it was her friends. That made me feel kind of sad because she got Daisy kittens and Daisy might be missing them.
I am currently reading Black Water, and I was feeling sad when I found out that Pouline died and their still trying to find out where Otis is. Alex and Brodie are hiding a story from the cops and Brodie’s mom. They were out swimming and Brodie saw Pouline and Otis and he didn’t like it and he pulled pouline in the water with him, then ever sense then the cops only found pouline died and they haven’t found Otis yet.
