Are You Blue? (#1)

Well...we've finished another great book, and I hope you enjoyed Blue as much as I did! I would like you to tell me what you thought of it. Consider the following questions:
• Did the book change your feelings about anything?
• What did you learn that will stay with you long after the book is over?
• What surprised you in the book?
• What emotions did the book stir up in you?
• What did you like best about the book?
• What, if anything, did you dislike?

It did not really change any feelings. What really surprised me was that BOBBY died. I really did not have a best part in the book. The whole book was good.

My emotions did stir up because she is really strong to handle her brother bobby’s death because I have a brother about the same age as bobby and well if that were my brother I wouldn’t have handled it like she did. And to take care of her mom and sisters like that is impressive. And then her getting that disease is horrible but, she was still holding on and she recovered. I really did want to cry but it was going to be too embarrassing. I loved when her dad came back from war but was sad because of his arm.

I learned that blue doesn’t only mean sad it also means happy.
I disliked that Ann thought it was all her fault that Bobby died.

I like the book Blue. It did not tell me anything I did not already know, but I really enjoyed the end because her dad came home and I love happy endings!

1. No it didn’t
2. I learned how it was back in the day
3. That Bobby died
4. When her dad came back
5. Nothing

The book showed me that blue can mean many different things. It might hurt now but it will heal. Her father is the one who came to get her.(Which made her very happy). Even though it was set in the past, everyone in the present can relate to Ann Fay. I do not think that Bobby had to die.

In the book Blue when Ann Fay got sick and went to the hospital and was right next to Emogene, now that was a shocker wasn’t it?

One thing that will always stay with me is that no matter your skin color you can always be friends. One thing that surprised me is that they had whites and blacks together. Ithought it was really nice that Ann Fay gave imogen the presdent's flower. One thing that kind of stired up my emotions is when her dad came home he had all of Bobby's pictures he had sent him. I really liked the book and there was nothing I disliked about the book.

Well at the beginning of the book I thought that it was going to be stupid because of the name, but then I loved it. Well when Bobby died and the stuff she had to do to get rid of the germs and not have anything to remember him by made me sad. What Anna Fay did to the black girl by giving her the rose was the best part .What the girls said to Anna Fay even though then probably didnt mean it that they hated her is what I disliked. I learned that allkinds of people can get along.

No nothing has really changed, I mean way I felt before I read the book. I felt really bad about anybody with polio or anybody who had a family member with it.
My emotions were crazy when I read it because of Bobby's death and her dad going off to war and just everything.I didn't have a favorite part in the book. All of it was really, really good, and I've been looking every where for another book like Blue, but no luck yet.Thats why I cant wait until Comfort comes out.

My feelings did not change while reading Blue. What changed me in the book was that they didn’t get caught on the way to Georgia. No emotions were felt. It was all good. I disliked nothing.

I wasn't too fond of the book at first but after Bobby died I started to enjoy it more. I was real surprised when Ann got polio. If that was my brother I know I could not taken it as easy as her.

It didn't really change my feelings about anything. Um I never realized that people with polio were also discriminated against. It suprised me that Bobby died. When ann fay got polio, it was sad. That Immogene and Ann Fay became friends during the discriminating period of time. I didn't like that pete died.

No ma'am. The feelings from the book will stay with me forever. Ann Fay's daddy came home from the war!
And that he brought Bobby's pictures back after Ann Fay burned them but what bugs me is that HOW did he do it? I was going to cry at the end but the tears just wouldn't come out!!! Ann Fay's dad came home from the war of Hitler was the best part!! Nothing! I liked everything!

Blue is good book. It’s not really my type of book but I thought that it was good anyway.
I liked how Ann Fay and Imogene became friends even though everybody thought that Ann Fay should stay with her own kind. I dislike how there was no action in it, well at least not the kind of action I like.

Blue is a good book but it did not change me in any way but it was a good book and to prove it, normally I would not buy a book but I did on this book. Things back then was not good at all. They would not let them be in the same ward. It was interesting.

1. Yes mainly when Bobby died and when her dad came home.
2. It’s hard to burn stuff of a loved one
3. When she got polio
4. Sadness
5. When they were going to sneak into the hospital
6.none

I really like the book and it turn out like I thought one of those books were it surprises you at the end. The part that I like was when Ann Fay and Emma Jean got to see each other again. The part that gave me emotions the most was when Bobby died. But over all I liked it.

1. The book didn’t change my feelings.
2. I learned that polio killed people, but not a lot of people.
3. It surprised my that Bobby died.
4. Sadness is the emotion that was stirred in me.
5. I liked in the book when Ann Faye’s dad came back from the war and Ann Faye got over with polio.
6. I disliked that Bobby died.

The book changed my feelings by knowing that people that had polio needed help when that was spreading around. They needed nurses and everything. That just because someone looks different doesn’t mean you have to laugh at them. The thing that surprised me was when Ann Fay got polio. The emotions were sad because when bobby died it made me sad. I disliked when they put Imogene in a tent and Ann Fay in a place that isn’t that cold.

I loved the book too but it changed me a little. It made me think about all the stuff I have and there are other people out there that don't have a lot at all. Ann Faye was a strong person and she had to handle Bobby's death and if I were her I don't know how I could have made it through.

The book Blue told me about the people that had polio. It surprised me that most of the families dads went to be in WWII. The emotions that got me were that the colored polio patients had to be outside. The best part about the book was that her father came home safely.

The book told me that I can do anything. Don't ever give up. I got suprised when Ann Fay dad came to pick her up at the hospital. When Bobby got buried and when you started crying(Mrs.Halterman). I liked when Ann Fay dad suprised her at the hospital. I really didn't dislike anything in the book.

Not really,I learned that you should have fun with your life because you never know if this will ever happen to you. The surprise was that Bobby died. I did not feel any emotions but surprised when Ann Fay's dad came back. The book was great.

Mrs. Halterman, I just discovered your blog. (I'm a little slow!)

This was fun to read and I'll come back to see what else your class is doing!

I loved being at your school. Thanks to everyone for reading Blue and commenting on it.

No, the book didn’t change my feelings about anything, but learned how it was in the old days.
I was surprised when Ann and Immogene were separated, and when her dad came back, I liked that best of all.
I liked everything about the book.

The book BLUE was a good book but it really didn't change the way I feel about anything. The thing that will stay with me long after the book is done.Is that the little girls dad has gone to war and she think that he has left her with all of the responsibilities of taking care of the house and her family. The book made me kind of sad the thing i liked best about the book is that she makes a new friend in the hospitall that she's in.

It didn’t change any feelings but I was sad when Bobby died. I was going to cry but I didn’t. The book was great and now I want to read the next book now. I didn’t have a best part because I liked it too much.

Blue was one of the best books I have read. A thing that surprised me was that polio did not kill a lot of people. The best thing is that her dad came back alive. The worst thing was that Bobby died.

Well my emotions changed when Ann Fay had gotten polio and had to go to that hospital away from her family and friends and I’m guessing that it was a hard time for her and when her and Imogene almost got separated she just wouldn’t give up on it and it made her happy when they rode together to Charlotte , North Carolina thanks to the nurse they had .Then close to the end of the book Ann Fays daddy comes back and he saved some of Bobbies drawings and then on the way home Ann Fay had noticed that her dads right arm was gone.

The book Blue did change my thouhts because i thought that it was going to be about someone named Blue, but I was wrong. What will stay with me is that if people die and you know them you can’t blame yourself. What surprised me is that BOBBY died.I was really sad that Bobby died. I was so so sad.I liked that Ann Fay’s dad came home.I disliked that BOBBY had to die at that age.

1. I think it did change my feelings because I never thought that in the past it was so difficult and by knowing people dying from polio. 2.Always wash your hands when you finish using something so you won’t get polio. 3.That polio could kill you and even people were separated at the hospital. 4.My emotions were sad and mostly made me feel like if I wanted to cry. 5.I liked the part were Ann saw her dad at the hospital when they went to pick her up!!!!! 6.I didn’t like the parts where there was people dying.
